Planning a quick escape from Nashville? Our weekend RV rental options offer the perfect blend of convenience, flexibility, and comfort—whether you’re chasing fall foliage in the Smokies or camping lakeside at Percy Priest. Below, discover how to choose the right RV for a short getaway, view sample itineraries, and learn insider tips for maximizing a two- or three-night adventure.
Why Choose a Weekend RV Rental?
Weekend getaways are all about minimal planning and maximum enjoyment. A dedicated RV rental allows you to:
- Skip Hotel Hassles: Roll out of your drive on Friday afternoon and wake up in a new destination Saturday morning, minus check-in lines.
- Pack Light, Stay Comfortable: RVs come equipped with basic kitchen, sleeping, and bathroom facilities—no need for multiple reservations or packing bulky gear.
- Explore Multiple Sites: Cover more ground than a day trip—visit a state park Saturday morning, grab lunch at a local winery, then settle into a second campsite Saturday night.
- Stay on Your Schedule: Leave Nashville when traffic eases, extend your trip Sunday if needed, and return refreshed for Monday’s obligations.
Choosing the Right RV for a Weekend
Depending on group size, desired amenities, and tow-vehicle capacity, consider these popular weekend RV types:
Compact Travel Trailers
- Ideal For: Couples or solo travelers using a mid-size truck or SUV.
- Key Features: Kitchenette with two-burner stove, small refrigerator, wet bath, queen bed, and a dinette that converts to extra sleeping space.
- Advantages: Quick hitch-up, easy maneuverability, and lighter weight (often under 6,000 lbs GVWR). Perfect for pulling into smaller campsites at Top 5 Campgrounds Near Nashville.
Class C Motorhomes
- Ideal For: Small families or friends traveling together, especially if you don’t own a tow vehicle.
- Key Features: Over-cab sleeping area, full bathroom, compact kitchen, and a rear sleeping or bunk area. Models range from 22–28 feet.
- Advantages: All-in-one unit—no towing required. Quick setup at campgrounds like Woodland Park Campground or pet-friendly sites.
Toy Haulers
- Ideal For: Those who want to bring ATVs, mountain bikes, or kayaks on a short adventure.
- Key Features: Rear garage area doubles as sleeping or storage space, combined living/kitchen with slide-out, and full bathroom.
- Advantages: Securely stow recreational gear, then convert the garage into a guest bedroom or lounge. Great for weekend trips to Kentucky Lake or local off-road trails.
Sample Weekend Itineraries
Below are two curated itineraries—one for nature lovers and one for city-side exploration—designed for a Friday evening departure and Sunday afternoon return.
Itinerary 1: Smoky Mountains Escape
- Friday Evening: Pick up your RV in Nashville by 5 PM. Stock up on groceries and head east on I-40 toward Townsend (approx. 3.5 hours). Check in at Greenbrier Campground around 9 PM, hook up utilities, and settle in.
- Saturday Morning: Wake up early for a sunrise hike to Laurel Falls (2.6-mile round-trip). Return to camp for coffee and breakfast cooked on your RV kitchen essentials.
- Saturday Afternoon: Drive the 11-mile Cades Cove loop—picnic at one of the scenic pull-offs. Mid-afternoon, explore Gatlinburg’s downtown shops and enjoy local crafts.
- Saturday Evening: Return to Greenbrier for a campfire cookout using the included campfire grill grate. Roast s’mores and enjoy stargazing with your RV’s LED string lights.
- Sunday Morning: Pack up and head to the Townsend Visitor Center for a guided wildlife check—spot elk, black bears, and deer. Drive back home via I-40, stopping for lunch in Knoxville.
Itinerary 2: Nashville to Kentucky Lake
- Friday Evening: Pick up a compact travel trailer by 4 PM. Head northwest on I-40 to Barkley/Cheatham Lake Wildlife Management Area (just over 1 hour). Set up camp at Peaceful Valley Campground by 6 PM. Grill burgers using the on-board propane grill.
- Saturday Morning: Kayak or paddleboard on Kentucky Lake (rental available at onsite marina). Fish for bass or crappie off the dock. Brew coffee in your travel trailer kitchen.
- Saturday Afternoon: Drive 30 minutes north to Land Between the Lakes (LBL). Visit the Woodlands Trace Trail for a 4-mile bike ride—bring your bike rack from the Outdoor Adventure Gear package.
- Saturday Evening: Return to Peaceful Valley for a lakeside sunset. Use the campfire kit to cook foil-wrapped potatoes and veggies.
- Sunday Morning: Pack up quickly and stop at the LBL Wildlife Check Station—spot bison and elk roaming freely. Head back to Nashville by early afternoon.
Booking & Rental Tips
Follow these best practices to ensure a seamless weekend RV rental experience:
- Reserve Early: Weekend rentals popular—book 4–6 weeks in advance, especially during peak seasons (May–July, September–October).
- Confirm Mileage Limits: Most weekend rentals include 200–300 miles. Estimate distance to and from your destination, plus on-site driving, to avoid overage charges.
- Pack Essentials Strategically: Download our RV Kitchen Essentials checklist and bring multipurpose items (collapsible bowls, nesting cookware) to save space.
- Choose Ideal Campgrounds: Look for campgrounds with full hookups (electric, water, sewer) for maximum convenience. If you prefer rustic charm, opt for electric-only or primitive sites—but verify RV length limits for travel trailers or toy haulers.
- Check Weather & Road Conditions: Tennessee weather can shift quickly—pack layers and check campground road access after heavy rain. Use an RV-specific GPS or set your map app to “Avoid Low Clearances” for safe travel.

Special thanks to Beau for the great attention and help throughout our visit. Highly recommend!

The staff, specifically Bo, were ready on standby for any questions or hiccups we encountered with the RV during our trip, and his kindness extended thru to the exact moment we returned the RV. These people genuinely want you to have the best time you can in their vehicles. Highly recommended!

We give him 5+ stars!

Finance guy, Brian is a pleasure to work with. He cuts to the chase and doesn’t try to sell you more than you need!
Serviceman, Nate is simply the best!
Everyone else that we came into contact with during our visits to Nashville RV are super friendly!
Overall, great experience from start to finish…except the heat! 🙃
It has already been dog approved!

Thank you, Tim & Sheri from Wyoming

Garrett was very thorough when explaining the ins and outs of the RV and how to make sure all fours tires stay in contact with roads.
Would definitely recommend going through Garrett if you are considering renting an RV.

He was patient and understanding while we fumbled through the process, but ultimately was a professional about the whole experience. Bottom line, I wanna party with this guy…. And rent my RV’s from him

We highly recommend Nashville RV, and plan to use them again in the future.

Unit was clean, gassed up, tanks filled, ready to go. All required cords, hoses, etc were provided. Everything worked well and well maintained. Great rental experience. Thanks!

Sales Rep meets me on parking area. Calls a service representative from their other building. He begins to check it out. Another service rep joins him. Diagnose the problem. Gets us on the road. AND won't take a dime for jacking our right rear jack back up fully to the necessary place. Week retraction springs.
Highly recommend for their friendly fast knowledgeable service.

we pulled into this business, a service representative immediately came to our motorhome to find out our needs. Eventually there were three servicemen working to get us back on the road. EXTREMELY friendly and knowledgeable. Thank you. I would highly recommend Nashville RV in
Franklin.

The motor home was outfitted with everything we could have possibly needed. Easy to drive. Easy to set up. Highly recommended!
Garrett & Brad showed us everything we needed to know. Checking Out & Checking In took no time at all. The team had everything waiting for us with levels all topped off and full instructions on use. We had 24/7 access to a technician if needed. OUTSTANDING!!

Garrett and Brad were outstanding during the entire process from sharing options for rentals and prices, demonstrating the use of the vehicles, and following up on the overall experience.
My family and I were thrilled to make fun-filled memories using Nashville RV Rentals!

Highly recommend them, and renting an RV first if you’re considering ownership, especially if you’re newbies like we were. It really helps to show what you like and dislike so you can make a decision that’s right for you.
Brad and Garrett were awesome - go see them before you go on your RV Adventure!

Motivates me to run my business better!
RV’s were competitively priced too and basically brand new.
Look no further.

Even went home and returned with the wife to look around. No pressure and no sales pitches. We will definitely be back.

Also, Brad in the rental department is just as courteous and easy to deal with!
I won't be going anywhere else for a camper from here on.

They even have folks that will set up your rig at the campsite. We've used them close to a dozen times. They have earned our continued business. Wish I could give them six stars. Make sure you talk to them before you rent anywhere else.
I highly recommend phoning them if you are considering an RV trip!

They went over everything needed (and more) for our smokey mountain long weekend. All was easy from pick up to drop off. They actually answer phone during off hours! Huge plus on service. We'll be back for sure!

There is a reason they continue to have rave reviews online.
Thanks again and happy RVing!

For any other first-timers: the orientation is adequate, but brief. I'd encourage you to view YouTube tutorials as well before showing up for your rental and/or just filming the key parts of the orientation, as the manual is pretty slim. But, assuming those precautions, Nashville RV is a full-service, one-stop shop to get you safely on the open road--especially first-timers.

Garrett was very helpful and was even able to get us a one day extension to enjoy our trip. This place is top notch. We will definitely be back for our next RV rental. A heads up that this place is a little more expensive than somewhere like Cruise America but I feel like you get better service, a better RV and better coverage so it is worth it.
